Superman Fest: ‘Smallville’s’ Cassidy Freeman heads to Metropolis – Pop2it – Zap2it

Cassidy Freeman is moving on to a new series, but she still can see “Smallville” in her rear-view mirror.

Formerly the devious Tess Mercer on the young-Superman saga that lasted a decade, the actress plays it much more down-to-earth as the attorney daughter of the title sheriff (Australian actor Robert Taylor) in “Longmire,” A&E’s modern…..

Smallville fans: Meet the vampire version of Tess Mercer.

Cassidy Freeman, who portrayed the fearless illegitimate daughter of Lionel Luthor on the CW superhero drama, will make her first appearance on Thursday’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, in which she plays a ruthless and seductive vampire who was something of a mentor to a younger Damon (Ian Somerhalder). Before the “Delena” fans start to worry, know this: Sage has her eye on another vampire who’s a bit more powerful. TVGuide.com caught up with Freeman to get the scoop on her Diaries debut.

‘Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder, ‘Secret Circle’ in new promo | Inside TV | EW.com

The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle return this Thursday, and The CW is celebrating with an extended promo that reminds us that vampires and witches are vicious and sexy… also that we love Damon’s shower, that Elena cries a lot, that it can be funny when someone’s head falls off, and that there is apparently a Victoria’s Secret in Chance Harbor.

I’m most intrigued by this shot of Damon in bed with Rebekeh (again) and Sage (guest star Cassidy Freeman, who debuts in Thursday’s flashback episode “1912″ before hitting present-day Mystic Falls on March 22) caressing Rebekah’s face. Is Sage turned on or jealous? Watch the extended promo below.

Exclusive: Smallville’s Cassidy Freeman to Recur on The Playboy Club – TVLine

We know how Cassidy Freeman will be passing the days waiting to learn the fate of her and Katee Sackhoff’s A&E pilot, Longmire — by spending some time at NBC’s The Playboy Club.

TVLine has learned exclusively that the Smallville alumna has booked the recurring role of Frances Dunhill, a Chicago socialite who begins a “for show”-only relationship with Nick Dalton (played by series lead Eddie Cibrian). The arrangement benefits both parties, as Nick runs for public office and Frances labors to please her father (while also concealing a secret).

NBC’s Playboy Club Casts Eddie Cibrian’s ‘Brother’

Playboy Club marks Freeman’s second gig of the fall TV season, having previously shot a role for the season premiere of CSI: NY. Other Smallville alumni keeping busy these days include Erica Durance (aka Lois Lane, now in Miami striking a spark with one of Charlie’s Angels) and Justin Hartley (Oliver/Green Arrow, who will be guesting on Chuck). Michael Rosenbaum’s Breaking In, meanwhile, remains a contender for a midseason return on Fox.

‘Smallville’ Returns To San Diego Comic-Con

via splashpage.mtv.com

Last spring, Warner Brothers announced that the upcoming tenth season of "Smallville" will also be its last. And while the show will begin its final chapter in the fall, several members of the cast and creative team coming to the San Diego Comic-Con for one final appearance.

Series stars Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman and Justin Hartley will headline the "Smallville" panel on Sunday, July 25 at 10:00a.m. in Ballroom 20 of the San Diego Convention Center. "Smallville" showrunners Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson will also be on the panel, with special guest moderator Geoff Johns; the recently named Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment who has also written two episodes of "Smallville."

For Welling, this will be only his second appearance at Comic-Con, following nearly a decade as Clark Kent. It's also interesting to note Freeman's appearance, as her character, Tess was seemingly killed off in the ninth season finale. Presumably, she will be revived in the new season.

The CW has already indicated that former "Smallville" cast members may return for the tenth season, with John Schneider's appearances already announced for the season premiere and a later episode.

Welling has previously indicated his desire to see Michael Rosenbaum reprise his role as Lex Luthor, despite Rosenbaum's earlier statement that he will not return to the series.

Although there haven't been any announcements yet concerning any new villains for the tenth season, it's widely believed that Darkseid and the New Gods may play a prominent role based on hints dropped during the ninth season by Johns himself.

The season premiere of "Smallville" will air on Friday, September 24.
