Again.At this point, Superman fans hardly need another reason to see “Man of Steel” on June 14, but Warner Bros. has provided one anyway: Michael Shannon’s creepy and terrifying embodiment of General Zod, which takes center stage in this fourth trailer for Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel.”

“You are not alone,” Shannon sneers in the beginning of the new clip. Then, threats: “My name is General Zod. I have journeyed across an ocean of stars to reach you. Your world has sheltered one of my citizens. He will look like you, but he is not one of you. To those of you who know his location, the fate of the planet rests in your hands. To Kal-El, I say this: Surrender within 24 hours or watch this world suffer the consequences.” Superman, he’s talking to you.

In theory, there’s no reason a DC Cinematic Universe shouldn’t work every bit as well as — perhaps better, even — than a Marvel Cinematic Universe. In practice, however, we’ve seen Marvel dominate while Warner Bros. struggles mightily to get their non-Batman and non-Superman properties to take flight. The rumors surrounding the planned Justice League movie haven’t been terribly encouraging so far, either.

Whatever the “Justice League problem” means to you, Lord knows there is one. Warner Bros. was originally set on the idea of bringing this team of DC heroes to the big screen, but have since faltered and are now relying on whether the upcoming ‘Man of Steel‘ succeeds or not to make that decision for them. Still there are many concerns from fans and execs alike about realizing this particular set of characters, but could one of the top working writers of the day, Damon Lindelof, have a solution?

Lindelof has a huge body of work as both a writer and producer — ‘LOST,’ ‘Prometheus,’ ‘Star Trek,’ ‘Star Trek Into Darkness,’ the upcoming ‘World War Z,’ and the list goes on — so one might want to pick his brain on the best way to go about bringing the ‘Justice League’ movie to fruition. That’s what The Hollywood Reporter did.

Michael Shannon will be reviled all over movie theatres this summer.

Shannon, 38, is the chief villain in Man of Steel, the highly-anticipated Superman reboot that opens next month.

He’s also the lead in The Iceman, a grim little drama about professional assassin Richard Kuklinski. That film, which co-stars Ray Liotta and Winona Ryder, opens in select cities Friday before rolling out across Canada.

If it initially surprised comic book fans to consider Shannon as General Zod in Man of Steel, it came as just as big a surprise to the actor.

“It was a jump for me,” he says, “because that’s such a huge responsibility in such a big film.”

A well-known character actor, Shannon has bounced between blockbusters like Man of Steel and smaller indie films such as The Iceman for 20 years. He’s been in everything from Groundhog Day and Pearl Harbor to Vanilla Sky, Bug, 8 Mile and World Trade Center, among dozens of other movies.

Thanks to a handful of projects over the last few years — Revolutionary Road (for which he got an Oscar nomination), Take Shelter and TV’s Boardwalk Empire, for example, Shannon’s stock has really risen.

According to reports, Jimmy Olsen, the budding young reporter/photographer of Clark Kent’s local rag The Daily Planet, has undergone a gender-swap for upcoming reboot ‘Man Of Steel’.

The realignment of the classic character was seemingly confirmed after a film still, listing actress Rebecca Buller as “Jenny Olsen”, was noticed in the pages of an official ‘Man Of Steel’ tie-in book.

Back in January, Comicbookmovie.com reported that Buller was credited as the mysterious “Jenny Olsen” on IMDB’s ‘Man Of Steel’ cast list. The actress was also spied by eagle-eyed fans in a trailer – running alongside Lawrence Fishburne, who plays The Daily Planet’s editor Perry White.
