Bryan Q. Miller Reveals What To Expect In ‘Smallville Season 11’

When news hit that ‘Smallville’ would continue on in comic book form, fans of the show rejoiced knowing that they haven’t seen the last of Clark and the gang. Not much information was given at the time, only that the comic books would continue where the series left off. Now we know more as writer Bryan Q. Miller has revealed what readers can expect when the comic book hits the shelves in April.

Miller promises that he’s going to do “everything (he) can to keep the look and feel of the comic as true to the spirit of the show” and the writing will still maintain the same mannerisms and personality that Tom Welling gave Clark on television.

While writing the series, Miller confesses that there were different ideas how the TV series could have ended.

Valley Free Press | Planning begins for Smallville Superfest

PLANO — With all the excitement last summer surrounding the filming of scenes in the Plano area for the new Superman movie, a festival honoring the man of steel just seems natural. At least that’s the opinion of some area residents meeting to organize the first Smallville Superfest, scheduled for Aug. 17 through 19.According to the festival’s Facebook page, the purpose is “to celebrate the spirit of Superman and what he stands for.”“Man of Steel” is scheduled to be released in 2013.The group met for breakfast on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at the Plano Area Chamber of Commerce office with about 15 people present.“There’s growing interest. I talk to people everyday – locally, regionally and even nationally – about Plano,” said Rich Healy, the chamber’s executive director.“We need to capture this spirit and align our identity with Superman.”“In our first year, we can do a lot of fun, low-cost things for our kids and grandkids,” said Plano Mayor Bob Hausler. While a lot of ideas were discussed – such as a central location for disseminating information, fundraising and liability insurance – it was agreed the two most important needs are money and volunteers.“I just got the first donation the other day … a $25 check,” Healy said.“Committee members need to talk with the movers and shakers so we can put together a budget. But believe me, we won’t turn down a donation,” Healy said.“We need to look at all revenue streams.”

Leaked poster spoils Man of Steel details | TG Daily

An anonymous source has leaked an image of what appears to be a promotional poster for the upcoming Superman readaptation, Man of Steel.

The original photo, left, was obtained by MovieWeb. I tried to clean it up and straighten it out a bit for you below.

We can tell a few things from the poster. First off, the pose and over-the-shoulder sort of framing is indicative of conflict, it creates a sense of Superman against the world, which strengthens the hypothesis that this Superman film will reflect a more morose and somber Superman, a superhero who is not accepted and feels ever out of place in an alien world.

The helicopter are likely representations of conflict with Human authority, so Superman will seemingly have some clashes with police and military forces throughout, perhaps under the distant direction or manipulation of Zod, as we see the face of Michael Shannon, who plays the part of Zod in the film hidden in the clouds.

The final element is the most interesting and mysterious however, in the distance, a man in shadow stands next to a machine, likely either a robot or a suit of mechanical armor. This is an element which none of the synopses or announcements have discussed, and there are no characters on the cast list which seem robot focused, so who and what could this challenge be off in the distance, and will he/she/it be the primary conflict of the film, or only a sub-plot under the greater threat of Zod and his machinations?

Iran bans the Simpsons… but Spiderman and Superman are allowed as they help ‘the oppressed’ | Mail Online

Bart Simpson and his family have joined Barbie on a list of dolls to be banned by the Iranian government.

The move against Springfield’s favourite cartoon characters is part of a decades-long crackdown on signs of Western culture in the country.

But bizarrely the fictional U.S. superheroes Superman and Spiderman are being allowed on sale because they help ‘the oppressed’.

Stephen Amell Is Green Arrow

Stephen Amell (The Vampire Diaries) has landed the lead role in the CW’s version of DC Comics’ Green Arrow. David Nutter will direct the project, while Andrew Kreisberg, Greg Berlanti, and Marc Guggenheim will write the show. Here is some background on Green Arrow:

Green Arrow is a vigilante superhero who fights crime using archery, martial arts and technology. In his secret identity he is Oliver Queen, living in Star City as a wealthy playboy and billionaire industrialist turned outspoken liberal politician. He is the leader of Team Arrow; he has also been a member of the Justice League and the Outsiders.

The show has been moving through development at a rapid place since The CW picked up the rights, suggesting the ailing network may be keen to get back some of its Smallville mojo. The role of Green Arrow was previously played by Justin Hartley on Smallville.

After a lengthy ten-season run on the WB and later the CW, “Smallville” signed off on its final episode this past May to the inevitable sadness of the series’ hardcore fans. Nevertheless, “Smallville: The Complete Series” is available tomorrow, November 29th, on DVD, and we’ve got an exclusive clip from the special features section of the boxed set that features cast and crew talking about the thought processes that went into humanizing Superman’s Kryptonian father Jor-El, played by both Julian Sands and Terence Stamp (the latter in voiceover).

In order to stoke viewers’ emotional investment in the relationship between Clark and his birth father, the writers made sure to depict Jor-El as a warmer presence when he showed up in Smallville in human form (as Sands), afraid that only showcasing his disembodied voice alone would make him unrelatable as a character to the show’s audience.

Watch the exclusive video below, and then let us know in the comments whether you’ll be standing in line tomorrow to pick up the box set!

Bat Analysis: The Batman Adult Onesie | Geeks of Doom

Batman Onesie

There are very few things that shock and astonish me in this life. I feel like I have just about seen everything, but the Batman Onesie produced by Warner Bros. is one of those things.

I’ve even been aware of its existence before. A friend of mine even got one for Christmas last year, but I had not seen it in action until I saw it in this picture. I’m disturbed, frightened, and a little bit excited for the potential of new Batman merchandise. It’s official name according to Amazon is “Batman Comfy Throw Blanket With Sleeves,” but is best known as “the lazy man’s cosplay.” Or simply, the Batman onesie. If you’re for some reason interested in buying this for yourself or as a gag gift for your friend, you can do so here, but if you’ll indulge me for a little bit, I’d like to examine this picture for just a moment.

Okay, so this is pretty much a horrifying picture of a man with little to gain in life as he reaches what I can only assume is his last days on planet Earth. He’s thrown all sense of pride and dignity out of his half-blinded window and has accepted what is now a shell of his former self. This can all be determined by the fact that he is wearing the Batman Comfy Blanket With Sleeves. It also stands to reason that he feels hopeless because he identifies with Batman instead of his “Being Wonderous” wife who’s inspired by Wonder Woman, or his proud and hopeful twin who wears his Superman Comfy Blanket With Sleeves with no shame at all. No, our Batman-inspired slouch wears his Comfy Blanket With Sleeves because he wants more in life. I assume that the young man who has given up on life wishes that he were able to move from the couch to his garage and dress up like a superhero so that he too can fight crime. But alas, his days are numbered, and he has accepted that.

But why has he given up? There are so many different possibilities. The first of which is that he feels like he is completely stuck in a controlling marriage by his “Wonderous” wife who seems to carry on some sort of relationship with his twin brother who loves Superman. We can tell this by the alternate photos of Superman twin on his brother’s couch enjoying a fine television program. But it’s evident that “Wonderous” wife is in control based on the decor of the room. Take note of the weaved media baskets and empty vases placed inside the bookshelf. A fan of Batman who is in control of his life would proudly display his Absolute Edition of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight! So no, he’s not in control of his own life. He’s depressed, floundering, and waiting for the sweet release of the afterlife, hence the sad grin on his pudgy face. But how did he get himself into this mess? What could have caused a man to hit rock bottom like this? Unemployment? Nay. Favorite TV Show being cancelled? Doubtful. No, this man has experience a far greater trauma than we could even begin to imagine.

Batman Onesie Guy is a war veteran who has made a sacrifice to his country to fight for its standards and grace, and unfortunately, he lost his legs while doing so. If you’ll notice, there appear to be no legs at all under this Batman Cozy Fleece Blanket With Sleeves. His confidence after the war drove his wife into the arms of his twin brother who also was seeking comfort after the family disaster. But fear not, Batman Cozy Fleece Blanket With Sleeves Man, your family still cares about you, and your country appreciates your sacrifice. Please do not fear the future, make the future fear you. Batman had his back broken by Bane and went on to return to the cowl. If he can return to fighting super crime, you can turn your life around and make it out of the muck and mire of the mundane life you lead. If you need to leave your “Wonderous” wife to get ahead in life, make it so. You are a man who has potential! Learn from The Batman on your Cozy Blanket With Sleeves and stay determined to earn a better life. Don’t let these days pass you by!
