She may have snagged the job as Superman’s lover on screen but Amy Adams has ripped her own real life appearance to shreds.

The redheaded screen siren let her low self-esteem flow after insisting she is feature-less without her Hollywood slap on.

‘I have no features without makeup,’ the 38-year-old American said.

‘I am pale. I have blonde lashes. You could just paint my face — it’s like a blank canvas. It can be great for what I do.’

But Adams, who woos hunky cape-wearing Henry Cavill in her role as Lois Lane in the new Man of Steel blockbuster, insists she’s content with being a plain Jane dubbing herself a ‘mere mortal’.

‘I’ve wanted to be in a superhero movie, and this was my best chance — as some mere mortal,’ she said.

Franco begins by reminding us that he, too, acted in a comic-book film, the Spider-Man trilogy directed by Sam Raimi, and says young children still approach him as “fans of the original.”

“I don’t really feel much distress over its being remade, for many reasons,” Franco writes. “But what is interesting to me is that it has been remade so quickly—and the reasons why. The answer is, of course, money.”

He continues, “We are in the film business, and the studios are owned by large corporations who want to make money. And in this art form, where so much is spent and so much profit can be made, one criterion for success is inevitably the financial. And when movies become so big that they can make $200 million in one weekend like The Avengers did, everyone from studios to filmmakers are going to want to get in on making comic-book movies.”

After slamming the Spider-Man remake, Franco praises Man of Steel which he calls “a great film.”

“One of the main reasons I liked it was because in this film, Superman’s S symbol stands for ‘hope’ on the planet Krypton,” he writes.

He also comments on star Henry Cavill’s obsession with Superman after the pair worked together on Tristan and Isolde.

“What Henry took seriously back then was Superman. He wanted to be Superman more than anything in the world…The night of the premiere I saw Henry from afar on the red carpet and knew this was the moment his whole life had been building toward. His dream had come true, and I was happy for him,” he recalls.

Whatever you say, James.

Goyer discusses his approach to leaving material available for later:

I can neither confirm nor deny. But I will say that I did intentionally leave some loose ends, not as sequel bait, but just because I thought they were interesting. I don’t know if anyone that’s viewed the film has picked up on this yet, but when Clark goes into the scout ship, which sort of becomes the Fortress of Solitude, you see four cryogenic sarcophagi for the crew that piloted that ship 18,000 or 20,000 years ago. There’s a shot there – and, it’s funny, at one point Zack took it out, but I cried “Uncle!”, and he put it back in. But you see there are four pods: three of them have skeletons in them, but one is open and there is no skeleton. Zack had missed it the first time he read the script. I pointed it out to him, and he was like, “Okay, that’s interesting. That’s an interesting loose end.”

Jon Peters didn’t have much to do with “Man of Steel,” but that’s not stopping the former hairstylist and movie executive from raking in millions from the latest Superman movie.

The fat paycheck could reach $15 million and is a testament to the quirky “first adopters” system that allows Hollywood heavyweights who latch onto projects early to reap massive yields from movies they end up having little to no part in producing. Peters, who is credited as the executive producer of “Man of Steel,” worked hard to rejuvenate Hollywood’s interest in the Superman storyline and helped make 2006′s “Superman Returns.” As The Hollywood Reporter notes, he took home $7 million from that movie, a sum fattened by what’s called a “first-dollar gross deal,” in which a recipient receives a direct percentage of the movie’s revenue.

Fast forward to the present, and Peters is set to take home about five percent of whatever “Man of Steel” rakes in at the box office — despite having actually been removed from the project by Warner Bros. three years ago. Not bad for a day not spent at the office.

“Man of Steel” printed enough ticket stubs to bring in $125 million over its opening weekend (counting Thursday night screenings), good enough for not only the second biggest opening of the year (after “Iron Man 3″) but also the biggest ever June debut in box office history. The Henry Cavill and Amy Adams superhero tale wrestled the latter record away from “Toy Story 3,” which clocked in at $110 million in 2010.

The smash-hit Superman reboot Man of Steel incited some controversy with its decidedly darker take on the Last Son of Krypton, mostly for a key decision that the superhero makes at the end of the movie. This is the part where we have to write SPOILER ALERT: The movie ends with an extended sequence where Superman and Zod invent lots of new ways to punch each other, before Superman is ultimately forced to kill Zod in order to triumph over a ridiculously imbalanced highly unlikely situation contrived by the filmmakers save some people. The decision to have Superman kill someone has stirred the pot among moviegoers and media gasbags, and it’s the primary focus of an intriguing new Empire podcast. The show features interviews with Man of Steel director Zack Snyder and writer David Goyer, who reveal some behind-the-scenes information about the Neck-Snap Heard ‘Round the World.

First revelation: Man of Steel producer Christopher Nolan didn’t want Supes to kill anyone. As Goyer explains, “Killing Zod was a big thing, and that was something that Chris Nolan originally said, ‘There’s no way you can do this’…originally, Zod got sucked into the Phantom Zone along with the others.” That ending felt unsatisfying to both Goyer and Snyder, possibly because it was too vague and possibly because there wasn’t enough punching. Says Goyer:

If it turns out it’s time for a new chapter, I will be grateful for our time with them”. As for a prospective new home, Tull said: “We’ve got it down to a handful, but I don’t want to disrespect anyone by saying who yet.” Tull and Legendary have been with Warner Bros for 10 years, teaming on such lucrative pics as Christopher Nolan’s Batman franchise, The Hangover movies and the latest Superman reboot Man Of Steel. Tull indicated that regardless of the outcome, the company wanted more independence. “Developing and owning our own stuff has been part of our plan for a while,” the Legendary CEO said.

Superman walked my dog. Twice. How many people can say that?

Back in 2005 I became friends with an extremely handsome restaurant host named Henry. Little did I know it was Henry Cavill, on the cusp of fame.

I used to walk my rescued malamute, Buddy, by the new neighborhood tapas restaurant in West Hollywood, California, each night.

Buddy immediately took to Henry. And I must admit, so did I, almost immediately giving him the moniker “Hot Henry.” He was, without a doubt, the most handsome person I’d ever seen in real life and also, quite possibly, the nicest. The British accent didn’t hurt either.

I knew Henry was an actor, but when you live in the Los Angeles area — especially in West Hollywood — about 90 percent of the people you meet are “actors.” One day I naively offered to help him get an agent. He graciously declined, saying he was in good hands with CAA (Creative Artist Agency — essentially the Rolls-Royce of acting agencies). This was the first time I wondered to myself, who is this guy?

The Legendary chief disclosed the time frame during a presentation of the company’s upcoming film slate to press in Hollywood.

Tull said the two companies are in very different position from when they first paired up to co-finance and co-produce tentpoles in 2005.

“We are talking to everybody,” Tull said, including Warner Bros., with Kevin Tsujihara now heading the studio. Since taking control of the studio in March, Tsujihara has “been getting his arms around the situation,” of whether to continue its relationship with Legendary. “He’s been great,” Tull said.

Warner Bros. is evaluating the types of partnerships it wants to be in, and the amount of ownership it wants over its franchises, Tull said. Outside of “Harry Potter,” Warner Bros. rarely owns 100% of its tentpoles, opting to share the risk with other financiers. That includes DC’s superhero pics, which Legendary has helped finance over the years, including Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, “Superman Returns” and “Man of Steel.” That is likely to change under Tsujihara.

Warner Bros.’ costly Superman reboot opened to an estimated $125.1 million, including $12 million from Thursday evening shows, in the U.S. and Canada, the second-biggest debut of the year behind Marvel’s “Iron Man 3.”

Combined with $74.1 million from 24 overseas markets—most foreign countries will get “Man of Steel” in the coming weeks—”Man of Steel” had a strong enough start to leave studio executives already thinking about what more they can do with characters from their DC Comics unit.

“It’s more than just a franchise for us, it really opens up the door to do combinations of the DC Comics characters,” said Dan Fellman, Warner’s president of domestic distribution. “We can build them up like Marvel did and benefit from the history of DC.”

Mattel will have a exclusive Man of Steel Movie Masters set ($50) available at San Diego Comic-Con July 18-21 that features action figures of Superman (played by Henry Cavill) — complete with plastic spit curl — and Kryptonian villain General Zod (Michael Shannon).

The key highlight: With the push of a button on his back, Superman’s eyes light up to show his heat vision. (Don’t worry, kids — no actual heat comes from his eyes if you decide to torment the family dog.) And Zod comes with a cool steel girder accessory plus the toy looks a lot more like Shannon than the Movie Masters Zod available already in stores.

On the one hand, didn’t we just do this in 2006? On the other, Christopher Nolan.

It’s fitting, then, that the movie it became, the Zack Snyder-directed “Man of Steel,” received the reaction it did this weekend: a somewhat tepid response from critics but widespread popularity among audiences, who came out to see it in massive numbers.

So what does it mean that one of the most beloved characters in the history of moviedom received this particular reception? A few nuggets worth contemplating about Superman redux, redux.

PHOTOS: 50 images from ‘Man of Steel’

Kneel before Zack. Snyder hadn’t had a mainstream hit in six years, a period of futility that included commercial misfires such as “Sucker Punch,” Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole” and “Watchmen.” That changed this weekend, as “Man of Steel” grossed $116.7 million between Friday and Sunday — a hefty chunk above the expected $95 million and the best-ever opening for a film in June (helped by a super-wide 4,207 screens). The movie also garnered the highest reviews among Snyder’s last three efforts, though at a 57% Rotten Tomatoes score it’s hardly anything to hang on the mantle. Still, it makes sense why Snyder is on board to make a sequel, the first time in his career he’ll revisit his own material.
