Read on who is going to be at the SUPERMAN CELEBRATION this year. Who is going??

Superman Celebration is proud to announce that John Glover, Cassidy Freeman, and Gerard Christopher will appear at this year’s festival.

Superman fans are no strangers to the acting talent of John Glover thanks to his portrayal of Lionel Luthor/Darkseid on Smallville and his voicing of The Riddler/Edward Nygma on the animated series Superman and The New Batman Adventures. And if you’ve turned on a television, been to a movie, or been to a Broadway play in the past 30 years, you’re likely to have seen Glover in one of his many various roles. (Read the full article featuring John Glover on our Film and Television Guests section.)

Cassidy Freeman burst onto the scene in 2006 as the lead in the Comic-Con International Film Festival Award-winning short Razor Sharp, and was later embraced by Smallville audiences as Lex Luthor’s efficient successor Tess Mercer from 2008 until the series ended in 2011. She has gone on to appear on television in CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, The Vampire Diaries, The Playboy Club, and will be in the upcoming A&E series Longmire.

Great interview from the guys over at shockya.com with the new villain in Superman Man of Steel.

“With her statuesque beauty, Israeli-born actress Ayelet Zurer has made a strong impression in genre fare like “Vantage Point” and “Angels & Demons,” and especially heavy, hard-hitting dramas like “Fugitive Pieces,” ”Adam Resurrected” and Steven Spielberg’s “Munich,” in which she plays Eric Bana’s sympathetic wife and serves as his emotional mooring. Writer-director Lawrence Kasdan’s “Darling Companion,” then, represents a nice, unexpected change-up for Zurer, who plays Carmen, an exotic seasonal housesitter who ends up helping her employers (Diane Keaton and Kevin Kline) search for their missing dog, and in the process develops an unexpected connection with a member of their extended family, Bryan (Mark Duplass). ShockYa recently had a chance to sit down with Zurer one-on-one, and talk about the movie, Kasdan, psychic inclinations, and her role as Lara Lor-Van in Zack Snyder’s hotly anticipated “Man of Steel.” The conversation is excerpted below:

ShockYa: It was interesting, and such a pleasant surprise, to see you cast as this free spirit.

Ayelet Zurer: When I read for the film I read in Lawrence’s house, with he and (co-writer and wife) Meg and a dog on the ground, just sitting in their living room with Mark (Duplass), so it was all very natural. And they called me like 20 minutes later,…”

The untimely demise of poor little Dickie Bird was but a harbinger of things to come. The first fleshly souls to introduce me to the concept of death were my maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Aaronson, and George “Superman” Reeves.

Bubbie was as big as the wingback chair from which she seldom moved and had a voice only dogs could hear. We never spent much in the way of quality time together — she died when I was four.

Superman and I still visit on a regular basis.

George Reeves as Stuart Tarleton in “Gone With the Wind.”

Forget about other roles the actor might have undertaken throughout his career: George Reeves was Superman! I’ve seen Gone With the Wind with an audience at least 6 times. In a tradition older than the Grampian Hills, on each occasion, when a red-headed Reeves first appears as half a Tarleton twin, some guy in the crowd will invariably gasp out loud, “It’s Superman!”

I was a kindergartener when Reeves died and able to phonetically make out the word “Superman” splattered across the front page of the Chicago American. Even a child could surmise that Reeves’ headline-making presence signaled a fatal career move for the mild mannered reporter.

Recess couldn’t come soon enough. Word on the playground painted a disillusioned Reeves so drunk at a party that he jumped out a window in order to prove that he really could fly. For years I followed John Ford’s maxim, “When the legend becomes fact, print the legend” and embraced the schoolyard….”

“In the wake of Smallville‘s final season, DC’s been scrambling to fill cable’s superhero void. They suffered a spectacular failure with last year’s Wonder Woman pilot, but we won’t hold that against them, especially since they’re bringing Oliver Queen (otherwise known as The Green Arrow) to the small screen. With production for that series well under way, DC’s set their sight’s on a new heroic TV show.

Who’s the hero, you ask? Superman?….”

“I was just a tad dissatisfied with the first installment of ‘Smallville Season 11.’ Not that it was bad, but it was so short and there was just so much ground that needed to be covered. So in a few areas, it felt just the tiniest bit short. I hate to sound overly critical, because what was there was good! I guess I just felt I needed a bit more, when upon reading the second strip, I realized, maybe all I needed was more patience! This installment really delivers! Last issue was an amuse bouche.
In a ruling issued Tuesday, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals denied an effort by attorney Marc Toberoff, who reps the Siegel and Shuster heirs, to assert attorney-client privilege over documents that DC Comics claims are key to the litigation involving control of the famed superhero.

The three-judge panel ruled unanimously that Toberoff cannot assert the privilege because he had already disclosed the documents to the government as part of its criminal investigation of a lawyer, David Michaels, who briefly worked for Toberoff “before absconding with copies of several documents from the Siegel and Shuster files,” the ruling states.

The documents in question are a letter and other materials that Michaels sent to execs at DC Comics in an effort to “detail Toberoff’s alleged master plan to capture Superman for himself,” the ruling states. DC Comics execs gave the material to an outside attorney but then sought to obtain them as evidence through discovery motions in two other ongoing Superman cases.

Toberoff fought the disclosure, spurring DC Comics to file a separate lawsuit against him in 2010. Toberoff has maintained that while the documents were given to federal prosecutors as part of their investigation of Michaels, that decision amounted to a “selective waiver” of attorney-client privilege. Last year, a district court ruled in favor of the disclosure of the documents to DC Comics.

Warner Bros. believes the documents are central to proving…”

Ariel Atkins, a “comic book girl” at First Aid Comics in Chicago who was among the hundreds of fans at the event at the McCormick Place this weekend, said superheroes reveal the ordinary in the extraordinary.

For example, Atkins said, for her, the dual identity of Peter Parker and Spiderman is the most interesting thing about the character.
