‘Man of Steel 2’ Batman vs. Superman delays won’t affect work in Detroit, Michigan Film Office confirms | MLive.com

DETROIT, MI — A delay in the release date for Warner Bros.’ “Batman vs. Superman” film starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill won’t affect crews’ plans to shoot in Detroit and other Michigan areas.

Michigan Film Office spokeswoman Michelle Grinnell confirmed that news Tuesday morning in an e-mail to MLive.com and gave the following written response:

“We are aware of the scheduling changes. Other than timing, this will not impact the plans for filming here in Michigan.”

The film doesn’t actually have an official title, but reportedly had its release date pushed back to May 6, 2016. The original date was July 17, 2015.

Production on the new film, according to a Michigan Film Office press release, is expected to begin in metro Detroit and throughout Michigan sometime “in the first quarter of 2014.”

A specific date for the start of filming, however, hasn’t been revealed publicly.
